Port Disbursement Accounts, Without the Spreadsheet

A tariff-driven platform that turns vessel particulars and a port tariff into a complete estimated disbursement account for shipping agents at Indian ports.

Bringing Precision to Port Agency Accounting

Marine Squadrons is a SaaS platform for shipping agents that prepares Estimated Port Disbursement Accounts (EPDAs). Agents enter the vessel particulars and the port of call, and the platform rates every charge from the port's published tariff, subtotals it by section, applies GST and converts it to USD.

The objective was to replace the spreadsheet every agency keeps re-keying with a system that treats an EPDA as arithmetic: rates held per port and per tariff version, every line carrying its own basis of calculation, and an account that reconciles with the invoice that follows it.

Project Overview

Client: Marine Squadrons
Industry: Maritime / Shipping Agency
Platform: SaaS Web Application

The primary goal was to let a shipping agent raise a complete, client-ready EPDA in minutes — accurate to the port’s own rounding rules, traceable line by line, and ready to send to the principal.

Challenges

Shipping agents preparing disbursement accounts by hand often struggle with:

Marine Squadrons needed a platform where the tariff does the arithmetic, every figure can be explained, and the agent’s time goes into the call rather than the spreadsheet.

Our Solution

We built a tariff-driven SaaS platform that produces a complete, section-wise estimated disbursement account in three steps: enter the call, let the rates apply themselves, then issue and track.

Conclusion

Marine Squadrons shows how domain-aware software can take a task that lives in spreadsheets and make it fast, accurate and auditable. By holding port tariffs as data and rating every line the way the port does, the platform lets shipping agents issue estimated disbursement accounts their principals can trust — in minutes rather than hours.
